MAINE SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF CLERGY SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMS AND AGAINST THE DIOCESE OF PORTLAND, MAINE

Thanks to the courage and perseverance of innocent clergy sexual abuse victims in the State of Maine, Justice Thomas McKeon ruled that the victims’ lawsuits against the Diocese of Portland are constitutional and may proceed.

The Catholic Church cannot be trusted to act honestly and fairly toward victims, and this latest ploy by the Diocese of Portland was exposed for what it was; meaningless, arrogant, and another attempt to raise the trauma temperature of innocent victims.

Shame on Bishop Robert Deeley who has callously treated victims with disdain and placed unnecessary blockades in the path of victims seeking justice.

All 50 States and the Territories must follow the example of Maine jurisprudence by allowing all children, teenagers, and vulnerable adults to hold their abusers accountable in courts of law.

Victory for Maine victims!
