The allegations concerning childhood clergy sexual abuse by Buffalo, NY priest, Fr. Jeffrey Nowak, has resulted in his arrest by Federal authorities for receiving and possessing child pornography which he conducted on national and international levels. Where were his supervisors?
Three Bishops were or are responsible for the supervision of Fr. Jeffrey Nowak’s behavior. Bishop Richard Malone (2012 – 2019); Albany Bishop Edward Scharfenberger, Apostolic Administrator of the Buffalo Diocese (2019-2021); and current Bishop Michael Fisher (2021-Present). Where were all three supervising Bishops when Fr. Jeffrey Nowak was allegedly involved with child sexual abuse, adult clergy sexual abuse orgies, and receiving and possessing child pornography.
The Diocese of Buffalo, NY, negligently supervised Fr. Jeffrey Nowak. Bishop Michael Fisher must immediately publicly release the Code of Canon Law #489 secret files, which probably contain documents of scandal about Fr. Jeffrey Nowakand the files of all accused priests in the Diocese. Since Fr. Nowak’s ordination in 2012, he has had four assignments in seven years.

Why
The policies of the Catholic Church encourage sexual abuse of children, and nothing has changed. All the “Child Abuse Review Boards,” document such as the “Dallas Charter,” (which was revised recently to favor clergy over victims), and Papal demands to stop clergy sexual abuse are empty gestures. What is needed in the criminal prosecution of not only of men like Fr. Jeffrey Nowak, but what is needed is transparency and a truly independent investigation of the Diocese of Buffalo.
