PORTLAND, MAINE BISHOP ROBERT DEELEY SHOULD NOT DELIVER A GRADUATION ADDRESS AT CHEVERUS HIGH SCHOOL, PORTLAND, MAINE, AT 6:00 PM ON JUNE 5, 2023, WHEN HE HAS BEEN SUED BY THREE STUDENTS OF A BOSTON PARISH HIGH SCHOOL FOR NEGLIGENTLY ALLOWING AN ADMINISTRATOR OF THE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL TO SEXUALLY ABUSE STUDENTS

MEDIA RELEASE – SUNDAY, MAY 4, 2023

WHAT

A press conference demanding that Bishop Robert Deeley refrain from addressing high school graduates at Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine, because of the lawsuit filed in May, 2023, that has named him as a defendant in a sexual abuse case with three plaintiffs in a Boston Archdiocesan Catholic high school.  Bishop Robert Deeley was Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia in the Archdiocese of Boston between 2011 and 2013.  As Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, Bishop Deeley had a duty to hire and properly supervise Arlington Catholic High School employees to keep children safe from sexual abuse.  According to allegations in the lawsuit, Bishop Deeley was negligent in his duty to hire and supervise.

Also, given Bishop Deeley’s cover-up of child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Portland, Maine, he should refrain from speaking at the graduation at Cheverus High School, Portland, Maine
