The recent investigation of clergy and lay personnel childhood sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Baltimore by Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown uncovered more than 600 childhood sexual abuse victims by more than 156 clergy and lay personnel between the 1940s and 2002.

Despite Attorney General Brown’s investigation of thousands of documents from Archbishop William Lori and the Archdiocese of Baltimore, it is canonically mandated that Archbishop Lori, following the Canon Law of the Catholic Church, maintains secret archives or files which were not turned over to the Attorney General’s office

It is likely that Attorney General Brown’s findings that the number of victims and abusers is higher than reported because of the Church’s history of underreporting crimes of childhood sexual abuse. It is more than likely that Archbishop William Lori is storing the secret archives or files in the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, MD, which he must publicly release immediately to give victims the justice and validation they deserve.

What and Why

A demonstration demanding that Archbishop William Lori of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, MD, publicly release the secret archives or files in Archdiocesan headquarters.  The key to the secret archives or files is, by Vatican decree, to be monitored by the Archbishop or someone whom the Archbishop deputizes to monitor the key.  It is time for the secret archives or files to become public so the accurate and complete information of childhood and adult sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Baltimore may be known publicly by law enforcement, Catholics, and the general public.
