Justice for Cecilia Springer

Shame on Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archdiocese of New York, and the Sisters of Saint Ursula for callously objecting for months to the taking of the deposition of Cecilia Springer, an 89-year-old childhood victim of sexual abuse by a religious sister even though Ms. Springer was dying of a terminal illness. Cecilia Springer was represented by Boston attorney Mitchell Garabedian.

On Monday, April 5, 2021, Cecilia Springer died on the same day that the Sisters of Saint Ursula once again objected to her deposition going forward. At the same time, Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the Archdiocese of New York had a continuing objection to Ms. Springer’s emergency deposition taking place.

Cecilia Springer would have celebrated her 90th birthday on April 7, 2021, but she was denied the opportunity to obtain the justice she deserved by the Sisters of Saint Ursula, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and the Archdiocese of New York who acted shamefully and without compassion.
