Letter to the Editor of the Hartford Courant

To the Editor:

The Archdiocese of Hartford played the usual Church trick on clergy abuse survivors. It settled a lawsuit at the eleventh hour to avoid having to produce the documents and evidence that would have told the story of years of cover-up, secrecy, and obfuscation regarding the case of Father Foley. Foley's victim could have been spared the delays and waiting if the Archdiocese had decided to do the right thing and give him what he deserved a long time ago. Nothing has changed in the Catholic Church and nothing will change unless and until the "faithful" in the pews rise up in protest.
