The letters to the editor and the column by Abbott Koloff about the Rev. Kenneth Lasch have been appropriate and well-deserved acknowledgments of a great priest.

Monsignor is God's ambassador
Letter To the Editor:
Monsignor Kenneth Lasch was God's ambassador.
I was saddened to read about the recent retirement of Lasch, former pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Mendham. One can truly understand how his fight for the tormented priest-abuse has also taken a toll on his health.

EDITOR: As former members of the Church of Saint Joseph, my husband
and I would like to thank you for your editorial in the Observer
Tribune in praise and support of Monsignor Kenneth Lasch.
We belonged to St. Joe's since moving to Mendham in 1970 and leaving
that church community was, and is, painful in many ways - but staying
there was even more painful. We were both born Catholics and practiced
our faith the best we could over the years.
When Father Lasch came to Mendham, it was as if someone opened all the

Catholic leader inspired others
To the Editor:
It is with great sadness that we have come to know that Monsignor
Kenneth Lasch is removing himself from his heroic role as public
advocate. He has long been a standard-bearer for the thousands of
children who have suffered form the sexual abuse of priests and the
many more Catholics in the pew they have abused psychologically as
